A health talk presented by Hazel Moore of The Alzheimer’s Society at NIDA

Hazel Moore, Support Services Manager of the Zlzheimer’s Society, gave a presentation about Dementia to the members of Nailsea Intercultural Dancing Association (NIDA) on Friday 7th October 2011. Over 30 people participated in this event which was jointly organised by North Somerset NHS and NIDA. People have found the presentation very informative and useful. The event lasted for about one hour, which was followed by buffet, warming up exercises and some Latin dances.

Professional speaker from North Somerset NHS to talk about Dementia at NIDA

A professional speaker from North Somerset NHS will be coming to NIDA to talk about a health issue on Dementia. Here are some details:

Date/time: Friday, 7th October 2011 , 7:00-8:00pm

Place: Nailsea United Reformed Church (address: 2 Stock Way North, Nailsea BS48 1AQ)

Buffet will be provided at this event.

All public members are welcome to attend. NIDA normal dance session will be from 8:00-9:30pm following this talk.

The North Somerset BME Annual General Meeting was held at Boulevard United Reformed Church, Weston-Super-Mare, on Saturday 19th November 2011, from 12:00 to 16:00.

NIDA members performed the “Coco Dance” at Go4Life Community Festival

The North Somerset Go4Life Community Festival was held at Hans Price Sport Centre, Weston-super-Mare, on Saturday 23rd July 2011 between 10am and 4pm. This event was to encourage and help people to live healthier and more active lives by providing them with a range of free training sessions in sports and dancing. NIDA members gave a dance demonstration at this event to a group of audience, which has attracted more people to take part in the community dance. NIDA AGM 2011

The NIDA (Nailsea InterCultural Dancing Association) AGM (Annual General Meeting) was held at Nailsea United Reformed Church on 20/5/2011 between 20:00 and 21:30. NIDA financial report was delivered at this meeting and a new management committee was elected. Various issues were also discussed at the meeting.

The meeting was followed by dance rehearsals and group photograph, as shown below:

A NIDA dance couple has won second place in “Not quite strictly come dancing – Standing Together” charity fundraising event in March 2011

In the above community charity event which was held at Weston Pier on 6th March 2011, A NIDA final couple danced against four couples from other community groups before a panel of three judges. Despite limited rehearsal time prior to the event, they secured second place. Congratulations to NIDA!

NIDA to present a dance performance at Go4Life Community Festival in July 2011
